there are swings in my stomach and bolts in my neck
the hot air wraps trackwork around my head.
the heat the stench
the burning furnace
the time melts into the sun
an hourglass somewhere
is spilling sandunes.
the monster wallows in the night
a crowded bus, an overflowing basin.
spilling seeping
soundly in the flames.
a million faces, a million eyes
a million shallow breaths inhaling.
the time is breathing,
the time is counting in the fire.
a burning ember
floats into the sky.
the night descends
and crawls into the heat.
fire
acrid land
desert storm
leaping swing
craning neck
the burning furnace
gulps
us all.
